Kick-off Meeting on November 6th/7th 2014 in Jülich
Molecular Interaction Engineering (MIE)
The research project "Molecular Interaction Engineering" (MIE) was founded as a research network of the Helmholtz Association and funded by the BMBF as part of the Biotechnology 2020+ initiative from 2013 to 2018. The objective of MIE was to develop biotechnological-technological hybrid systems. Thus, within the framework of MIE, molecular mechanisms could be transferred from biological systems to technical surroundings and integrated on technical surfaces as well as into microfluidic arrangements. This integration resulted in systems with innovative features and novel functionalities. The developed demonstration objects are the basis for next-generation technologies.
In the course of the project, the joint research work was focused on three topics: (1) Catalytic reactors in printing, (2) Biological inks for printing applications and (3) Biosensory modular systems
